... is on Great Barrier Island . Our Playcentre was first started in 1975 and the present building was purpose built and has been in Kaitoke Lane since 1991.
Our idyllic Island centre is located right next door to the Islands ‘Kaitoke Primary School’, our new fence (complete with a gate) now means we can also officially visit them!
You can not miss our centre – we look spectacular with our new inside paint job in yellow, blue and green and sporting a large sail shade in our playground for our children to play safely under.
Our last ERO report had this to say;
“Children at Aotea Island Playcentre receive a programme strongly based on Playcentre philosophy. They are able to make choices about their play. They are exposed to a wide range of resources and experiences during the session and are supported by their parents to participate successfully at their own level.
Children are encouraged to be independent and to have a sense of belonging and contribution. Regular conversations encourage children to be articulate and confident in their dealings with adults. Routines and practices enable children to trust adult's responses to their wellbeing needs. Children are encouraged to participate in all activities and experiences, fostering exploration and the development of sound social relationships. The consideration of such goals ensures that children feel comfortable, supported and successful.”
We welcome visitors to call and hope you come and experience the Playcentre way soon.
