SPACE - Supporting Parents Alongside Children's Education
The SPACE programme is for (mainly) first time parents with newborn babies (starting at age 0-3 months) and supports parents through their child's first year. Weekly sessions are held over 4-5 terms in a relaxed, baby-friendly atmosphere. Parents with older babies are able to join existing groups when places are available.
SPACE is a new programme for Tamaki Playcentre Association and therefore sessions are available on a limited basis. We currently run SPACE sessions in Bucklands Beach,Cockle Bay,Glen Innes and Beachlands.
Weekly sessions include:
¨ The opportunity to meet and get to know other new parents.
¨ Discussions on relevant child development and parenting topics.
¨ Play time with age-appropriate equipment that supports infants' learning and development.
¨ An introduction to rhymes, music and books for infants.
Our qualified facilitators along with other professionals share their collective knowledge and experience with the group. Reading material and ideas for home-made equipment are provided.
Parents are invited to make a termly centre donation of $30 to help cover costs.
