Nau mai, haere mai and welcome to Totaravale Playcentre
Playcentre is unlike any other early childhood education organisation. At Playcentre, both children and their parents / caregivers attend alongside their children and come together to play with the specific interests, personalities, ages and passions of that specific group of children.
Totaravale Playcentre is a welcoming second home, with parents and children from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures. We are open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for 0 – 6 year olds and Thursdays for 3.5 – 6 year olds (our Big Kids session). There is also a SPACE programme for bubbas on Tuesday mornings and afternoons and Wednesday afternoons. Please see times below.
Each child is given the chance and freedom to explore, create, climb, read, sing, experiment, play music, wear costumes, paint, garden, do carpentry with real tools, bake and cook, build sandcastles, swing, slide, dance, spend time in nature and best of all – get messy!!
The wonderful activities Totaravale Playcentre offers changes every day. Playcentre parents all bring different skills, interests, and cultural backgrounds to add to the rich learning environment. We go on exciting trips to extend learning, and also welcome guests to speak or teach us new skills at centre. Perhaps you have a unique passion or skill you’d like to share with the children too?
Playcentre welcomes families with children aged 0 – 6 years. Mixed age play allows children to engage with others older and younger than themselves creating a unique family to belong to. Tamariki learn how to communicate, share and negotiate with empathy for their peers.
We welcome you to visit any time during the year. Please visit our page at https://www.playcentre.org.nz/centre/totaravale/ to be in touch. You are entitled to three free visits just to see if it’s the place for you!
See children delight in their surroundings- play with them, learn alongside them, encourage them to interact with others while you meet other parents.
Parents are the first educators of children, and Playcentre fosters and nutures the involvement of whānau through this very special environment.
As a family, and as a community, you’ll build your own village with Playcentre, and you are guaranteed to make life-long friends along the way.
Totaravale Playcentre is excited to thank the Kaipatiki Local Board for a grant to replace our Centre’s floor covering. Our new floor was laid in early 2021 and gives the Centre a fresh new look, as well as improving the safety of our play space and maintaining our building.
We are also pleased to thank North Shore Fund and Auckland Foundation for a grant to purchase a new sand and water trough and a shade cover for our awesome deck area.
