Information for staff

Last updated 23 March 2020

If you are diagnosed with COVID-19, please contact your manager as soon as possible so that we can work with any affected centres and the Public Health Service to put in place any necessary measures to mitigate the spread.

Will I be paid?

Yes, absolutely. We want you to know that you will all be paid as usual through this period. Every person who is employed by Playcentre Aotearoa will continue to receive their regular pay.

This means:

Permanent staff will receive all their normal substantive wages or salary

Fixed term staff will receive their salary until the end of their Employment Agreement term, up to the end of the first 2020 school holidays. If the term of your fixed term employment agreement goes beyond this date, we will review the need for the fixed term employment and your continued employment from this date. If the need is no longer valid, you may be notified of an earlier end date.

What about sick leave and annual leave?

Sick Leave – You will still need to apply for sick leave as we want to be able to understand the usage and trends.

Annual Leave – If you have booked annual leave and can no longer take it because you need to care for whanau or travel restrictions, please cancel your leave and your balance will be recredited.

At all times, we are taking our lead from the Government.

We recommend regularly checking the Ministry of Education website, as it updates information and advice for the education sector and the Ministry of Health website for ongoing advice regarding COVID-19 and its progression within New Zealand.
