Licensing considerations

The MoE has stated that all Early Learning Services will be funded until the end of May based on enrolments, so we can enter in Emergency Closures for Playcentres if they do not open in the next two weeks.  Funding based on enrolments beyond this date is not 100% guaranteed at this point and is currently with Ministry for consideration.  We will let you all know when we have this information. Centre Admins will be informed about how to record any of these scenarios in Discover.

Here are the 3 scenarios centres will need to decide between until the end of May with funding & Discover implications.

1. Run a session, with all the required qualifications, and a first aider. All enrolled children will be funded whether they attend or not up to 31st May. Log attendance & absences on the tablet.

2. Run a session without all the required qualifications, but with a first aider, and apply for Discretionary funding using the normal process. All enrolled children will be funded whether they attend or not up to 31st May. Log attendance & absences on the tablet.

3. If the centre cannot cover the required qualifications, and have used all their discretionary days, the session must remain closed. All enrolled children will be funded until the end of May. Let your CA and the regional office know you are closed for the day. The CA will fill in what is required in Discover. If members decide to go on site (for example to pop a sign up that you are closed, do extra cleaning or admin), they should sign in on the tablet as visitors for the purposes of contact tracing. Any children on site should be accompanied by their parent/caregiver.
