Update 19 May 2020

Tēnā koutou katoa

I wonder how many of you watched the Education Minister, Chris Hipkins, on Facebook Live yesterday commenting on Early Childhood funding.  At about 4mins 50secs in, he talks about Playcentre.  He again seems to accept Playcentre needs more funding, but unfortunately offers nothing concrete.  We continue to attract media attention, which is great for getting our story out.  I know there are many of you who are really keen to help get the message out, and to that end the Communications team is producing template letters for you to send to key people.  It is also important that we are all on the same page in any discussions.  Media releases that have gone out since the Budget are all available here on the website if you want to look at our key messaging.

And today, I am also sending out an email that provides an explanation and some details of Playcentre’s costs.

I hope everyone is settling back into their routines and things are going really well.  Thank you to all of you who I know have been working really hard to help get our sessions running again. Do remember though that the last eight weeks have been an extraordinary time for all of us, so please be kind to yourself and don’t expect that everything will just necessarily fall smoothly back into place.

Ka kite anō au i a koutou.
