Update 20 April 2020

Tēnā koutou katoa

It’s hard to believe we’re in our 26th day of Lockdown.  I’m sure I’m not alone in finding the last four weeks have been somewhat surreal.  The Prime Minister’s announcement on Friday that the Government is now considering a move to Alert Level 3 has come as something of a circuit breaker.  However, as we were informed last week, such a move will make little difference for Playcentre, with Government directions stating that all Playcentres will remain closed, even when we do move to Level 3.

I will be discussing the situation with Ministry of Education officials, our Co-Presidents and Regional Managers tomorrow, so hopefully I will have more details to share with you in my next Update.

In a sign that life does go on, we have a message for centres regarding the hireage fee for Space/BabiesCanPlay/CYCLE activities.
For programme sessions that had been planned to run in Playcentres during Term One, the usual hire fee of $20 per session will remain, and Centres can invoice the national body for this if they have not already.

For any programmes sessions that may have been planned to run in a Centre for Term 2 – the hire fee will be reduced to $10 per session while we are not physically in the Centres.  It will return to $20 per session once the programmes return to Centres physically. This fee is intended as a contribution to the costs of resources that are used by the Space/BabiesCanPlay/CYCLE sessions – such as paint, collage, electricity, etc. As the sessions are not being held, these resources are not being used during this time.

Ka kite anō au i a koutou.
