What is it like attending a workshop at another centre?

We know it can feel a bit daunting venturing into another centre for a Playcentre Education workshop. We asked one busy māmā to share what she has enjoyed about taking the plunge:

It’s seeing different centres, and everything they offer. Wall displays, and how they promote te reo Māori and diverse cultures. It’s seeing the space they have available for their tamariki, how they use that space, and how they work together as kaiako and parents/whānau.

A big one is building connections with the wider community – creating that extended whānau/family vibe within Playcentre. I have met so many wonderful māmā from other Playcentres and built friendships with them. My son and I now attend gymnastics on a Friday, and I get to see the familiar faces from those other centres I have visited.

I highly recommend attending a Learning Through Play workshop at another centre so you’re able to get all of these things, and think, “Hey, I could bring that back to my centre and see what the team think”, or, “Hey, our centre definitely needs something like that on our walls, in our day to day routine, etc..”

We’d love to have you join us, too! Check out options available near you: Upcoming Workshops and Online Modules | Playcentre.org.nz
