Funding update

During the month of May we saw the Wellbeing budget released providing for more money for our school teachers rather than the early childhood sector. We were not completely forgotten and have received a small increase in our Child Funded Hours rates from 1 January 2019 as shown in the table below.

Increase in Child Funded Hours

Playcentre Aotearoa is committed to following up on the opening in the strategic plan to work MOE to co-develop a funding model that works for our organisation.

Preparation for year-end:

Towards the end of July or early August we will be releasing our finance pack, this is mandatory for all centres whether the centre has opted into the Group for reporting purposes or not.
The pack this year will further improve on the 2018 pack to simplify the process and remove the manual data entry. This year we plan to fully integrate with Xero and so Treasurers will be guided through a couple of easy journals to post rather than entering information into a spreadsheet. This will be followed up by a quick questionnaire. We don’t expect this to take more than half an hour to complete.

We are also in the process of moving the manually prepared Fixed Asset registers from the prior year’s packs onto Xero. And setting up registers on each of our centres. I would encourage all treasurers to refer to our Fixed asset set up guide and help us out if your centres has not already been prepared as with all these things many hands make light work.

When you work through our finance questionnaire you may notice some unusual questions that don’t appear to relate to finance. This is information is being collated for specific use to create a stronger Performance report for 2018/19 in advance of our funding discussions to help demonstrate the impact Playcentre has beyond just our financial data. So please do respond to the questions and help us to do our best for you.
