Update 31 March 2020

Tēnā koutou katoa

I have been reflecting that in these days of isolation, many of our Playcentre whānau will be better equipped than most for spending such a huge enforced amount of time with their children.  As parent educators many of you will have the skills and resources to ensure your family continues with their many learning activities in a way that is inimitable to Playcentre.   It would be great to hear how many of you are getting along and to share your ideas when we have our Virtual Village up and running, hopefully tomorrow.   So do keep an eye out for it.

The latest bulletin from the Ministry of Education offers reassurances that Centres will continue to receive their bulk funding.  It also clarifies the term break changes announced for the lockdown period, noting that the decision to bring the term break forward (30 March – 12 April) applies only to state schools, not to early childhood learning services, as we had already determined. That means that for payroll and leave purposes we continue to operate to the original term dates.

As well as staying in touch with the Playcentre Aotearoa Management team I am also in regular contact with the Co-Presidents, Ruth Jones and Avis Stewart, who are regularly updated on how well our members and staff are doing.  The Trustee Board members are also having regular meetings and will keep you up to date via the website on any governance issues that arise.

Ka kite anō au i a koutou.
