Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi o Aotearoa – Playcentre Aotearoa, is a well known and loved Early Childhood organisation with over 80 years of supporting parents to take the lead in their children’s learning through play. Playcentre operates 400 Playcentres throughout the country.
The Education Support worker provides one on one support to Tamariki with development requirements. The role partners with other educators in Playcentre to enable tamariki to attend their centre safely, learn & play alongside their peers and to be fully included.
Pukekohe Playcentre are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Education Support Worker to join our well-resourced and vibrant Playcentre Community. You will work alongside our other educators to promote the engagement, independence and social relationships of a particular child.
You will be a valued part of the teaching team and will contribute to planning, implementation and evaluation of the child’s IP. It may also be necessary to support educators in supporting other children day to day.

Days and Hours:
This fixed-term position at Pukekohe Playcentre offers 3 hours of work per week, on Thursdays from 9.00am – 12.00pm, ending on 26 June 2025.
The Ideal Candidate will:
- Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification, or equivalent, or higher Early Childhood Education qualification
- Or hold a Primary Teaching qualification and have completed or be prepared to complete the Primary Teaching Bridging Award
- Preferably hold a current First Aid Certificate or be prepared to complete this.

- A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy;
- A passion for seeing tamariki thrive and doing what you can to support them to achieve;
- Knowledge and understanding of how to apply Te Whariki and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi;
- Great time management and with strong interpersonal and communication skills, and experience at centre level communicating with both tamariki and adults;
- An ability to support and empower parents, whanau and caregivers in their role as Kaiako.
- A willingness to upskill and meet new Playcentre qualification requirements as required;
- Confidence when speaking within a group.
- A passion for supporting Te Reo Māori and tikanga and engaging all whānau to feel a sense of belonging on our session.
