Playcentre Aotearoa are looking for a Kaimahi Support Lead who is an effective communicator and has the ability to influence others and build good practice.

This role is responsible for ensuring that Playcentre branches are meeting their legislative and regulatory compliance responsibilities. As the Kaimahi Support Lead, you will oversee the monitoring of service quality and provide leadership, guiding the Kaimahi to efficiently support the operation of our centres. You’ll play a key role in ensuring our branches operate in a compliant and effective manner, supporting the administrative tasks that contribute to the overall success of Playcentre Aotearoa services.

Days and Hours:

This is a permanent full-time position for up to 40 hours per week. The role is ideally based at the Lower South Island office in Dunedin with some hybrid work flexibility possible. Start date might be sooner if we find a suitable candidate.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide leadership and support to Kaimahi in their role, ensuring consistent and high-quality service delivery across Playcentre branches.
  • Oversee and monitor compliance with regulatory requirements, identifying any areas that need additional support or attention.
  • Collaborate with Regional Leadership to implement effective strategies and improve branch performance.
  • Mentor and develop Kaimahi, providing training and support to enhance team capabilities.
  • Lead the evaluation and reporting of branch compliance to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Act as a liaison between regulatory bodies such as the Ministry of Education, Education Review Office and Playcentre whānau.
  • Ensure timely resolution of compliance issues and provide actionable plans for improvement.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in Early Childhood Education, with Playcentre knowledge preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor, motivate and guide a team to success.
  • Knowledge of Early Childhood Education compliance and licensing regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to build effective relationships.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of te ao Māori and a commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles
