About us:

Formed in 1941, Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi o Aotearoa – Playcentre Aotearoa is a licenced early childhood education provider and charitable trust. With a philosophy of empowering ‘parents as first educators’, Playcentre seeks to empower whānau and tamariki to work, play, learn and grow together, and today has over 400 centres nationwide.

About the role:

In this dynamic role, you’ll provide vital administrative support to help centres run smoothly, while also working alongside tamariki and whānau to facilitate play-based learning and support the Playcentre education programme.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support and empower parents to create a positive, play-based learning environment that reflects Playcentre Aotearoa’s values and philosophy.
  • Promote children’s curiosity, creativity, and independence through meaningful play.
  • Help ensure centres run smoothly by managing key administrative tasks and maintaining compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for tamariki and whānau.

Position details

  • Fixed term role covering maternity leave from 27 January 2026 to 24 July 2026
  • 20 hours per week:

Session Facilitator

  • Monday: 11:30 am – 3:00 pm (Kohukohu)
  • Tuesday & Thursday: 9:30 am – 2:00 pm, includes a 30min unpaid break (Waimamaku)

About you:

The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal and communication skills, engaging confidently with tamariki and adults, and strong organisational, administration, and data management abilities, including:

  • Passion for Playcentre philosophy, knowledge of Te Whāriki, and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Experience in ECE or a similar role, with strong communication and relationship skills
  • Ability to engage and empower whānau, helping them feel a sense of belonging
  • Well-organised, able to meet deadlines, and confident using technology
  • Should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
