A Session Facilitator assists parents/ caregivers and whanau on session to ensure sessions run smoothly, parents are supported in their role as kaiako and children’s needs are catered for, while role modelling Playcentre philosophy and current practices and fostering whānau-led culture, supporting emerging leadership and supporting parents in gaining the skills and tools to become more confident in running sessions themselves.    

Te Kōpuru Playcentre are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Session Facilitator with a passion for facilitating child led play.  We are a well-resourced centre with an outdoor area for active play and exploration.  You will work alongside our Centre whānau to guide and inspire session activities, promote positive guidance, increase use of Te Reo Māori, support parents in planning and assessment for learning, promote the Playcentre Education while supporting whānau with exploring their light bulb moments. We are all about mentoring and supporting parents, whānau, members and tamariki as they explore and learn with their children during these very special years.

Te Kōpuru Playcentre, 3 Norton Street, Te Kōpuru

 Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9am – 1pm, during school term time only. This is a permanent position beginning as soon as possible

 The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification, or equivalent, or higher Early Childhood Education qualification;
  • Preferably hold a current First Aid Certificate, or be prepared to complete this.

Desirable skills and experience will include:

  • A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy;
  • Knowledge and understanding of how to apply Te Whariki and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi;
  • Great time management and with strong interpersonal and communication skills, and experience at centre level communicating with both tamariki and adults;
  • An ability to support and empower parents, whanau and caregivers in their role as Kaiako.
  • A willingness to upskill and meet new Playcentre qualification requirements as required;
  • Confidence when speaking within a group.
  • A passion for supporting Te Reo Māori and tikanga and engaging all whānau to feel a sense of belonging on our session.
