About Us
Formed in 1941, Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi o Aotearoa – Playcentre Aotearoa is a licenced early childhood education provider and charitable trust. Playcentre seeks to empower whānau and tamariki to work, play, learn and grow together, and today has over 400 centres nationwide.
We have multiple opportunities available for Facilitators to join us at Playcentre. Please indicate your availability in your application, or if you are seeking a casual opportunity.
Session Facilitator
Support parents and whānau during sessions, helping them grow as kaiako while ensuring children’s needs are met. Role model Playcentre philosophy, foster whānau-led leadership, and empower parents with the confidence and skills to run sessions independently.

Programme Facilitator
Bring the Space Programme to life! Help new parents connect, explore parenting, child development, and play in a safe, welcoming environment. Support whānau to build relationships and create their “village”—many go on to join Playcentre.

- Thursday 9:15am – 12:45pm (Programme Facilitator)
Casual Opportunities
- Relieving roles available across Napier & Hastings for both Session and Programme Facilitation
The Ideal Candidate/s will:
- Have completed Playcentre Course 3, an equivalent ECE qualification, or higher, or be currently enrolled in Playcentre C-Series, an equivalent ECE qualification, or higher.
- Or hold a Primary Teaching qualification and have completed or be prepared to complete the Primary Teaching Bridging Award.
- Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be prepared to complete this.
Desirable skills and experience will include:
- Passion for Playcentre’s philosophy and empowering parents as first educators.
- Strong knowledge of Te Whāriki and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Excellent communication skills with tamariki, parents, and whānau.
- Ability to support whānau as Kaiako and foster engagement in sessions.
- Confidence speaking in groups and a willingness to upskill as required.
- Enthusiasm for supporting Te Reo Māori, tikanga, and creating a welcoming environment for all whānau.
- NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
