Programme Facilitator – Canterbury Region (Fixed Term)

Canterbury Region are searching for a motivated and enthusiastic Programme Facilitator to join our team.  We have positions available that will work with babies and their whānau as a part of our Babies Can Play Programme.  

As a Programme Facilitator, you and your co-facilitator will help parents and their babies connect with other new parents while exploring parenting, children’s development and most importantly, play. 

Closing date:  31 January 2021

Purpose of the position: 

To assist in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of the programme.  Programme Facilitators ensure that participants are supported to build relationships with each other and that they are enabled to develop and explore parenting skills and children’s development in a safe environment.

31 January 2022

Position location:

Various locations across the Canterbury Region

Hours:  

Various sessions. Term time only. This position is currently for a fixed term ending 7 January 2023.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have completed or currently enrolled in the Playcentre C-series, an equivalent ECE qualification, or higher.
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be prepared to complete this.
  • Be prepared to facilitate across multiple centres.

Desirable skills and experience will include:

  • A passion for working with new babies and children (aged up to 6 years) alongside parents and caregivers;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the value of Playcentre and its philosophy;
  • Knowledge and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and using Te Reo on session;
  • Knowledge and understanding of how to apply Te Whāriki;
  • Having great interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence speaking within a group;
  • Having completed prior Babies Can Play (Space) training will be advantageous but is not necessary. 

Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
