Programme Facilitator - Otago Region


The Lower South Island Region is searching for fabulous people to grow our teams. We have positions available as Programme Facilitators, working with babies and their whānau as a part of our Space Programme.

As a Programme Facilitator, you and your co-facilitator will help parents and their babies connect with other new parents while exploring parenting, children’s development and most importantly, play.

There is an opportunity to work this role around school times, and holidays.

Space is an amazing programme that gives new parents the “village” they need to help raise their baby. Many Space members move on to become Playcentre families.

Programme Facilitators service various Playcentres across the Southland Region.


Casual reliever and Fixed Term, part time positions, hours are variable based on centre needs.

Successful applicants will:

  • Have completed Playcentre Course 4, an equivalent ECE qualfication, or higher.
  • Be prepared to to facilitate across multiple centres.
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be prepared to complete this;
  • Have a passion for working with new babies and children (aged up to 6 years) alongside parents and caregivers;
  • Hold knowledge and understanding of the value of Playcentre and its philosophy;
  • Have knowledge and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and using Te Reo on session;
  • Hold knowledge and understanding of how to apply Te Whāriki;
  • Have great interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence speaking within a group;
  • For Space: be prepared to complete the Space NZ Facilitators training (cost paid for by Playcentre Aotearoa).

Having completed prior Space training will be advantageous but is not necessary.

Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
