Programme Facilitator (Space) – Redwood Playcentre

Upper South Island Region are searching for a motivated and enthusiastic Programme Facilitator to join our team. We have positions available that will work with babies and their whānau as a part of our Space Programme.
As a Programme Facilitator, you and your co-facilitator will help parents and their babies connect with other new parents while exploring parenting, children’s development and most importantly, play.
Space is an amazing programme that gives new parents that “village” they need to help raise their baby. Many Space members move on to become Playcentre families. Position location:
Redwood Playcentre, Dunedin St, Redwood, Christchurch and at the regional office 17 Buchan St. Sydenham.
Hours:
7 hours per week – 2 sessions per week, Thursday and Friday afternoons. Term time only. There is a potential for the successful applicant to be the right fit for more programme hours within the area thus increasing the working hours per week.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have completed or currently enrolled in the Playcentre C-series, an equivalent ECE qualification, or higher.
- Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be prepared to complete this.
- Be prepared to facilitate across multiple centres.
Desirable skills and experience will include:
- A passion for working with new babies and children (aged up to 6 years) alongside parents and caregivers;
- Knowledge and understanding of the value of Playcentre and its philosophy;
- Knowledge and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and using Te Reo on session;
- Knowledge and understanding of how to apply Te Whāriki;
- Having great interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence speaking within a group;
- Having completed prior Space training will be advantageous but is not necessary. Training can be provided.
