Session Facilitator - Dinsdale Playcentre

We’re seeking a vibrant, motivated, creative and passionate educator with a sparkling personality to join our centre and support our older tamariki. Work alongside our members to guide session activities that are aimed towards our older tamariki within our centre, while also supporting our younger tamariki and parents on the same sessions.

We value play as meaningful learning. We value and support child-initiated play to help foster a passion for discovery, creativity, and learning. We use a positive guidance approach. Honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi is important to our Centre.

Position details:

Dinsdale Playcentre located at 43a Frederick Drive, Dinsdale, Hamilton.

The position is for 1 session per week – Tuesday’s, 9am – 12pm, during term time only.

This role is for a fixed term, beginning as soon as possible and ending 7 April 2023.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher, or an Early Childhood qualification.
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate is preferred

Desirable skills and experience will include:

  • Te Reo and Tikanga Māori knowledge that will demonstrate the principles and values.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with tamariki and adults.
  • Passion for empowering and engaging with all whānau to feel a sense of belonging on our sessions.

Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
