Session Facilitator – Freemans Bay Playcentre

Freemans Bay Playcentre are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Session Facilitator to join our well-resourced and vibrant Playcentre Community. You will work alongside our members and tamariki to guide session activities, facilitate learning using child led play and positive guidance, support the writing of learning stories and positively support the Playcentre education programme.

Purpose of the position:
To assist parents/ caregivers and whanau on session to ensure sessions run smoothly, parents are supported in their role as kaiako and children’s needs are catered for, while role modelling Playcentre philosophy and current practices.

Hours:
3 sessions – 9 hours per week, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings with 2 hours non-contact time per week. During term time.
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher or an Early Childhood qualification.
- Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be willing to complete one.
Desirable skills and experience will include:
- Knowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with tamariki and adults.
- Ability to support and empower parents, whānau and caregivers in their role as Kaiako.
- Passion for empowering and engaging with all whānau to feel a sense of belonging on our sessions.
Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
