Session Facilitator - Hunterville Playcentre


We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Session Facilitator to join our well-resources and vibrant Playcentre community for two sessions per week. You will work alongisde duty teams to guide session activities, facilitate learning using child-led play and positive guidance, as well as supporting the writing of learning stories.

Purpose of the Position:

To assist parents and caregivers on session to ensure sessions run smoothly, ensuring parents are supported in their role as Kaiako and children’s needs are catered for, that their play learning and development is enhanced, as well as role modelling Playcentre Philosophy and current practices. To help centre members understand the key components of excellent practice at Playcentre, and how each person can contribute to this. To foster a whanau-led culture and support emergent leadership, by helping centre members gain knowledge and understanding, and increase confidence in centre members to take on more and more of running sessions themselves.


Hunterville Playcentre – located at 17 Bruce Street, Hunterville.


This position is Permanent. 2 Sessions per week, Wednesday & Friday 8.45am – 1.15pm (9 hours per week). During Term time only. Start date immediate from 28 July 2021.

The Ideal Candidate will:

  • Hold a Level 4 Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care, Playcentre Course 4 qualification, or higher Early Childhood Education qualification;
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be prepared to complete this.

Desirable skills and experience will include:

  • A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with all ages;
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Te Whariki;
  • Ability to support and empower parents, whanau and caregivers in their role as Kaiako;
  • A willingness to upskill and meet new Playcentre qualification requirements as required;
