Session Facilitator - Mosgiel Playcentre

The Session Fascilitator will assist parents and caregivers on session to ensure sessions run smoothly, ensuring parents are supported in their role as kaiako and children’s needs are catered for, that their play learning and development is enhanced, as well as role modelling Playcentre Philosophy and current practices. The Session Fascilitator will help centre members understand the key components of excellent practice at Playcentre, and how each person can contribute to this. They will help to foster a whānau-led culture and support emergent leadership, by helping centre members gain knowledge and understanding, and increase confidence in centre members to take on more and more of running sessions themselves.

Available Position:

  • Mosgiel Playcentre 2 sessions per week – Monday & Tuesday 8.30am – 1pm, with an additional 2 hours non-contact time, during school term time only. Up to 13 hours per week (contact and non-contact time). Start Week 3, Term 2 (17 May). This is a permanent position.

The Ideal Candidate will:

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 4 or higher or Level 4 Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care, or an equivalent or higher ECE qualification.
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate.

Desirable skills and experience will include:

  • A passion for working with children aged 0 – 6 years alongside parents and caregivers;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the value of Playcentre and its philosophy;
  • Knowledge and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and using Te Reo on session;
  • Knowledge and understanding of how to apply Te Whāriki;
  • Great time management and communication skills;
  • An ability to support and empower parents, whānau and caregivers.
  • A willingness to upskill and meet new Playcentre qualification requirements as required;
