Session Facilitator – Murchison Playcentre


Murchison Playcentre are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Session Facilitator to join our well-resourced and vibrant playcentre community for two sessions per week.  You will work alongside our members and tamariki to guide session activities, facilitate learning using child led play and positive guidance, support the writing of learning stories and positively support the Playcentre education programme.

Murchison Playcentre – located on Waller Street, Murchison.


  • 2 sessions per week – Monday and Thursday 9.30am – 1.30pm (4 hours per session, 8 hours per week).
  • These sessions take place during School Term time only. There is potential for work on Wednesday also.
  • A mileage payment is possible and can be negotiated with the Centre Advisor.
  • This role will will begin as soon as possible.

The Ideal Candidate will:

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 or an equivalent, or higher ECE qualification.
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be prepared to achieve this.


Desirable skills and experience will include:

  •  A passion for working with children aged 0 – 6 years alongside parents and caregivers;
  •  Knowledge and understanding of the value of Playcentre and its philosophy;
  •  Knowledge and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and using Te Reo on session;
  •  Knowledge and understanding of how to apply Te Whāriki;
  •  Great time management and communication skills;
  •  An ability to support and empower parents, whānau and caregivers.
  •  A willingness to upskill and meet new Playcentre qualification requirements as required;
