Session Facilitator – Ohaupo Playcentre

We are looking for someone to assist us in providing parents and caregivers with the tools and knowledge in running a successful Playcentre session.

About the role:

Playcentre is a whanau-led centre that follows a philosophy based around parents as first and best teachers. Playcentre believes that children thrive when their whanau are actively engaged in their learning and education.

We are looking for someone to assist us in providing parents and caregivers with the tools and knowledge in running a successful Playcentre session.

About Ohaupo:

Ohaupo Playcentre is a lovely rural Playcentre with families from Ohaupo and the surrounding areas. Our centre has fantastic facilities for children of all ages including a great big sandpit and playground, lots of bikes and outdoor equipment, musical instruments, dress-ups and plenty of arts and crafts! There is a baby sleep room for all new parents who have energetic toddlers to entertain but a baby who needs a nap mid-morning. We love to get out and be involved in local community events like school calf club and hot air balloons visits and at least once a term we like to visit the zoo, bike park, museum, airport or take the kids on another fun activity.

Ohaupo Playcentre, Forkert Road, Ohaupo

Hours:

Fixed Term for term One

3 hours’ p/w

Friday – 9 am – 12 pm

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Minimum Playcentre Course 3, NZ Cert (level 4) or above – or equivalent ECE qualification
  • Knowledge and understanding of how to apply Te Whāriki
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Good understanding of positive guidance and the Vulnerable Children’s Act
  • Supporting parents and caregivers in their responsibilities of the operations and administration during a centre session
  • Encouraging parents’ role as Kaiako to support their children’s needs, learning and development through activities and play
  • To help support centre members in Te Whāriki curriculum and developing their knowledge of learning through play
