Session Facilitator - Taupō Family Playcentre


We’re seeking a vibrant, motivated, creative and passionate educator with a sparkling personality to join our centre and support our tamariki, parents and whānau in facilitating child led play.
Work alongside our members to open the sessions and guide activities, facilitate learning for our members and tamariki while role modelling child led play and positive guidance. Encourage participation in the Playcentre Education programme to increase qualification levels at our centre and demonstrate the benefits of participating to whānau. Let your inner author shine or put those stellar scrapbooking to skills to work writing leaning stories highlighting tamariki achievements, developments, learning and wonders.

We are a well-resourced centre with a huge outdoor area for active play and exploration.
You will work alongside our Centre whānau to guide and inspire session activities, promote positive guidance, increase use of Te Reo Māori, support the writing of learning stories, promote the Playcentre Education while supporting whānau with their exploring their light bulb moments
We all about mentoring and supporting parents/ whānau /members/tamariki as they explore and learn with their children during these very special years.

Position details:

Taupō Family Playcentre, 133 Taharepa Road, Taupō

Monday – Friday 9am -12.30pm, 17.5 hours per week during school term time only. This is a permanent position beginning 17 October 2022.

Hours can be increased by up to an extra 2 hours once a month for centre meetings.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher or an Early Childhood qualification of Level 4 or higher. 
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be willing to achieve this.
  • Be willing to attend a paid night meeting no more than once a month for up to 2 hours

Desirable skills and experience will include:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with tamariki and adults.
  • Passion for empowering and engaging with all whānau to feel a sense of belonging on our sessions.
