Session Facilitator – Timaru Region – Upper South Island

Upper South Island are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Session Facilitator to do casual work. You will work alongside our members and tamariki to guide session activities, facilitate learning using child led play and positive guidance, support the writing of learning stories and positively support the Playcentre education programme.

Purpose of the position: 

To assist parents/ caregivers and whanau on session to ensure sessions run smoothly, parents are supported in their role as kaiako and children’s needs are catered for, while role modelling Playcentre philosophy and current practices.

Start date:

2 May 2022

Position location:

Playcentres around Timaru Region, Upper South Island Region. 

Hours:  

Variable hours, as agreed upon and by agreement. Term time only. 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher, or Early Childhood qualification;
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate is preferred

Desirable skills and experience will include:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Te Whariki;
  • Ability to support and empower parents, whanau and caregivers in their role as Kaiako;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the value of Playcentre and its philosophy;
  • Great time management and communication skills;
  • A willingness to upskill and meet new Playcentre qualification requirements as required;
  • An ability to keep accurate and up-to-date records/ notes
