Session Facilitator – Tirau Playcentre – Fixed Term


Tirau Playcentre are looking for a  Session Facilitator to support their tamariki, parents and whānau in leading great sessions.  This role is fixed term until 15th December 2021.

We are looking for a motivated person who is enthusiastic, fun loving and creative to provide leadership to our parent led team for 2 sessions per week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during term time. 

Closing date: Sunday 11th July 2021

Purpose of the Position: 

To assist parents and caregivers on session to ensure sessions run smoothly, ensuring parents are supported in their role as Kaiako and children’s needs are catered for, that their play learning and development is enhanced, as well as role modelling Playcentre Philosophy and current practices. To help centre members understand the key components of excellent practice at Playcentre, and how each person can contribute to this. To foster a whanau-led culture and support emergent leadership, by helping centre members gain knowledge and understanding, and increase confidence in centre members to take on more and more of running sessions themselves. 


Tirau Playcentre – located at 9 Goodwin Street, Tirau. 


This position is Fixed Term until 15 December 2021.

2 Sessions per week, Tuesday & Wednesday 9am – 12.30pm (7 hours per week, 1 of which is non-contact). During Term time only. Start date immediate from 27 July 2021.

The Ideal Candidate will: 

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification, or higher Early Childhood Education qualification.
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be prepared to complete this.

 Desirable skills and experience will include: 

  • A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with all ages;
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Te Whariki;
  • Ability to support and empower parents, whanau and caregivers in their role as Kaiako;
  • A willingness to upskill and meet new Playcentre qualification requirements as required;

 Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
