Session Facilitator - Waipu Playcentre

Waipu Playcentre are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Session Facilitator to join our well-resourced and vibrant Playcentre Community. You will work alongside our members and tamariki to guide session activities, facilitate learning using child led play and positive guidance, support planning and assessment for learning and positively support the Playcentre education programme. You will be a leader who encourages others to thrive; you will model Playcentre philosophy and good practice while supporting whānau to gain confidence to have a go themselves.

Position details:
Waipu Playcentre, 28 St Mary’s Road, Waipu
Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 8.30am – 12.30pm (12 hours per week), during school term time only. This is a permanent position beginning 25 July 2022.
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification, or equivalent, or higher Early Childhood Education qualification;
- Preferably hold a current First Aid Certificate, or be prepared to complete this.
Desirable skills and experience will include:
- A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy;
- Knowledge and understanding of how to apply Te Whariki and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi;
- Great time management and with strong interpersonal and communication skills, and experience at centre level communicating with both tamariki and adults;
- An ability to support and empower parents, whanau and caregivers in their role as Kaiako.
- A willingness to upskill and meet new Playcentre qualification requirements as required;
- Confidence when speaking within a group.
- A passion for supporting Te Reo Māori and tikanga and engaging all whānau to feel a sense of belonging on our session.
