Session Support Worker– Newmarket Playcentre

We are on the hunt for a motivated, vibrant and passionate educator interested in making a difference in the lives of our young tamariki and their whānau.
You will assist parents/ caregivers and whānau on session to ensure sessions run smoothly, parents are supported in their role as Kaiako and children’s needs are catered for, all the while role modelling Playcentre philosophy and current practices.

Position details:
Newmarket Playcentre, 2 Hapua Street, Newmarket, Auckland
3 sessions per week – Monday & Wednesday mornings, 9am – 12pm, and Tuesday 9am – 1pm, during school term time only.
This is a permanent position beginning 25 July 2022.
There is potential for the successful applicant to be the right fit for other roles across other local centres, thus increasing the working hours per week.
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification, or higher Early Childhood Education qualification;
- Preferably hold a current First Aid Certificate, or be prepared to complete this.
Desirable skills and experience will include:
- A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy;
- Strong interpersonal and communication with experience at centre level with tamariki and adults;
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Te Whariki, and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi;
- Ability to support and empower parents, whanau and caregivers in their role as Kaiako;
- A passion for supporting Te Reo Māori and tikanga, and engaging all whānau to feel a sense of belonging on our session
