Session support Worker - Ōhau Playcentre


Purpose of this Position
To assist parents/ caregivers and whānau on session to ensure sessions run smoothly, parents are supported in their role as Kaiako and children’s needs are catered for, while role modelling Playcentre philosophy and current practices.

Ōhau Playcentre – 12 Muhunoa East Road, Ōhau, Levin


Tuesday & Friday, 9am – 12.45pm.

Fixed term position ending 17 December 2021. During school term time only.

Start date: 3 September 2021

The Ideal Candidate will:

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification, or higher Early Childhood Education qualification;
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be prepared to complete this.

Desirable skills and experience will include:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Te Whariki;
  • Ability to support and empower parents, whanau and caregivers in their role as Kaiako;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the value of Playcentre and its philosophy;
  • Great time management and communication skills;
  • An ability to keep accurate and up-to-date records/ notes
