Session Facilitator (Permanent) – Waterloo Playcentre


Purpose of the position

To assist parents and caregivers on session to ensure sessions run smoothly, ensuring parents are supported in their role as kaiako and children’s needs are catered for, that their play learning and development is enhanced, as well as role modelling Playcentre Philosophy and current practices. To help centre members understand the key components of excellent practice at Playcentre, and how each person can contribute to this. To foster a whānau-led culture and support emergent leadership, by helping centre members gain knowledge and understanding.

Waterloo Playcentre, located at 103 Trafalgar St, Waterloo 5011

Days and hours:

1 session per week – 3 hours per week: Tuesday morning. School Term time only

Start date:

As soon as possible

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have completed a Playcentre Course 3 qualification, or equivalent ECE qualification or higher;
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be prepared to complete this.

Desirable skills and experience include:

  • A passion for working with children aged 0 – 6 years, and alongside parents and caregivers;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the value of Playcentre and its philosophy;
  • Knowledge and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi;
  • Knowledge and understanding of how to apply Te Whāriki;
  • Great time management and communication skills;
  • A willingness to upskill and meet new Playcentre qualification requirements as required.
