Session Support Worker - Tākaka Playcentre

Enthusiastic and passionate educator required to assist parents/ caregivers and whānau on session to ensure sessions run smoothly, that parents are supported in their role as Kaiako and children’s needs are catered for, while role modelling Playcentre philosophy and current practices.

Position Details:

Fixed Term position available at Tākaka Playcentre, Lake Crescent, Tākaka

  • Fixed Term cover for qualification acquisition beginning 19 October 2021, ending 14 April 2022
  • Tuesday & Thursday, 3 hours per day during school term time only

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification, or higher Early Childhood Education qualification;
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be prepared to complete this.

Desirable skills and experience will include:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Te Whariki;
  • Ability to support and empower parents, whanau and caregivers in their role as Kaiako;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the value of Playcentre and its philosophy;
  • Great time management and communication skills;
  • A willingness to upskill and meet new Playcentre qualification requirements as required;
  • An ability to keep accurate and up-to-date records/ notes
