Session Support Worker– West Auckland Area


Playcentre are on the hunt for a motivated, vibrant and passionate educator interested in making a difference in the lives of our young tamariki and their whānau.  

You will assist whānau on session to ensure children have a positive experience by helping to provide a supportive, caring and educational environment that invites participation of children and their whānau. You will be someone with a positive outlook on life who enjoys stimulating the imagination of children through interaction, expression and communication.

Days & hours:

Various days, 2-4 sessions per week, 3-4 hours each session. Term time only.


Various Playcentres within the West Auckland Area.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher, or an Early Childhood Education qualification;
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be prepared to complete this.                  

Skills and experience required:

  • A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience at Centre level with tamariki and adults;
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi;
  • Ability to support and empower parents, whānau and caregivers in their role as Kaiako;
  • Passion for supporting Te Reo Māori and tikanga and engaging all whānau to feel a sense of belonging on our sessions.
