About the role

Space is an amazing programme that gives new parents that “village” they need to help raise their baby. Some Space participants naturally go on to become Playcentre families.

Please visit the Space NZ website for more information on Space and for more information on Playcentre.

We are wanting to grow Space within the Southland, Otago and South Canterbury areas as well as growing our team in Invercargill.

Space facilitator contracts are fixed term for the length of each programme. The programme usually runs for three terms and is 3.5 hours a week. Some of our Space facilitators run more than one programme and so being a Space facilitator can be a very viable part time role that fits within school hours.

Skills and experience required

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will:

  • Have Playcentre Course 4 or Level 4 or hold an ECE degree or diploma. (Playcentre Course 3 applicants will be considered with preference given to those working toward Playcentre Level 4).
  • Live in Invercargill area (as well as within Southland, Otago and South Canterbury)
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or prepared to complete this training (paid for by NZPF)
  • Be a fantastic communicator with the ability to speak within a group.
  • Be prepared to complete Space NZ training online and face to face (paid for by NZPF)
  • Be prepared to facilitate at multiple locations
