Playcentre Aotearoa are seeking expressions of interest for potential tutors required for face-to-face delivery of the Playcentre Education programme.

Playcentre Education offers the NZ Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care (Level 4) to upskill parents, whānau and caregivers as Kaiako within Playcentre.

Potential tutors must have a Level 5+ ECE qualification or Course 4 of the Playcentre Diploma, and Playcentre experience. Adult teaching experience is also preferred.

Position details:

Tutors are responsible for the delivery and assessment of the Playcentre Education programme from various Playcentre locations around New Zealand.

This is a casual position beginning in Term 1, 2022.

Expressions of interest are particularly welcomed from applicants in and around Invercargill, Dunedin, Oamaru, Timaru, the West Coast, Taupō, Gisborne, the Coromandel and Northland.

What will you bring?

  • Excellent relationship management skills – proven ability to interact effectively and confidently with adults
  • Knowledge of Te Whāriki, ECE curriculum, and Playcentre
  • An understanding of te ao Māori, including an appreciation of tikanga Māori and te reo Māori.
  • An understanding of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how they relate to Playcentre
  • Proficiency in keyboard skills and experience with Microsoft Office
  • Intelligence, an inquisitive mind, a can-do attitude, and a good sense of humour
  • Flexibility and the ability to travel from time to time
  • Sound judgement, a great work ethic and ability to work independently

Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
