Tēnā koutou te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi o Aotearoa,

The Trustee Board acknowledge the passing of Dame Catherine Tizard. She was a staunch advocate and supporter of Playcentre throughout her life, and often acknowledged the significant personal influence of Playcentre on her own life, and was quoted in Good Clean Fun as saying “I have sometimes told people, not altogether facetiously, that Playcentre is responsible to ‘My Glorious Career’.” On behalf of Playcentre Aotearoa, and all our members past and present, we offer our condolences to her whānau at this sad time.

Moe mai ra e te Māreikura Dame Catherine

E kore rawa koe e warewaretia,

Ka tangi tonu nei mou,

Moe mai ra, moe mai ra.

This morning we welcomed David Moger to the Playcentre Aotearoa whānau with a pōwhiri at the National Service Centre in Mana. The Co-Presidents will be working closely with Susan and David over the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition.

The Board would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Susan Bailey for stepping into the Acting General Managers role and shepherding the organisation through a challenging few months. We are incredibly grateful for the leadership and guidance Susan has provided to Playcentre and our kaimahi, and the support she has provided to the Board. Susan will return to her role as Principal Advisor, where we know she will continue to make significant contributions to the organisation.

SGM and AGM Update

Over the weekend Playcentre Aotearoa held an SGM and the first meeting of the reconvened AGM for 2021. The outcomes for both meetings are now on the website.

All remaining AGM decisions have been deferred to the second reconvened AGM on Saturday 27th November 2021.

Whare Discussions

All recommendations of resolution 7 (regarding selection and endorsement of trustees for the 2021 AGM) were agreed at the SGM. To facilitate good decision making at the AGM on 27th November, the Board will host whare discussions on Saturday 13th November, via Zoom. These discussions are not full whare hui (which have been postponed to April 2022), and the only agenda items will be processes for selection and endorsement of trustees for the 2021 AGM). Further details on registration, more detailed agenda etc will be communicated to members in due course.
