Trustee Board Elections

Trustee Board Elections 2025

Each year Playcentre Aotearoa holds elections to determine who will be appointed to the Trustee Board.

We encourage every whānau to take part. Voting plays a vital role in shaping the future of our organisation, and your participation helps ensure strong, representative leadership.

All whānau with tamariki enrolled in Playcentre at the time of the vote have a say through the “One Whānau, One Vote” process.

If you are eligible to vote, your voting email will have been sent to you on either 16th or 17th September.

Voting opened on 17 September and will close on Friday 31 October at 5pm.

How voting works

Upholding its commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Playcentre Aotearoa governs through a co-governance structure with equal representation from two Whare (Houses): Te Whare Tikanga Māori and Tangata Tiriti House.

This year we have two trustee vacancies in each Whare, which means you have two votes to cast.

Within the context of Playcentre’s two-house structure:

  • Whānau are eligible to be part of Te Whare Tikanga Māori if they are tangata whenua or have tamariki who whakapapa Māori (e.g. through marriage or otherwise).
  • Whānau are eligible to be part of Tangata Tiriti House if they are not affiliated with Te Whare Tikanga Māori. This extends to whānau Māori who choose to participate in Tangata Tiriti House.

As part of the vote process, you will first be asked to confirm which Whare (House) you are a member of.

Tangata Tiriti Trustee Voting

There are two trustee vacancies for Tangata Tiriti House in this election:

  • One position is for a 3-year term (2025–2028)
  • One position is for a 1-year term (2025–2026)

You have two votes to cast:

  • Your first vote is for the candidate you would like to serve the 3-year term.
  • Your second vote is for the candidate you would like to serve the 1-year term.

Please review the candidate information before casting your votes.
