About us:
Formed in 1941, Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi o Aotearoa – Playcentre Aotearoa is a licenced early childhood education provider and charitable trust. With a philosophy of empowering ‘parents as first educators’, Playcentre seeks to empower whānau and tamariki to work, play, learn and grow together, and today has over 400 centres nationwide.
About the role:
The Kaimahi is responsible for supporting centre whānau in day-to-day operations, including administration, enrolments, and coordination of centre activities and events.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Ensure compliance with Playcentre Aotearoa policies, Licensing criteria, and Health & Safety requirements.
- Assist in welcoming, inducting, and supporting new whānau, promoting a sense of belonging and engagement.
- Collaborate with whānau to manage tasks, resources, and programmes, reflecting Playcentre philosophy and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Position details
- Commences 28 January 2026
- 3.5 to 12.5 hours per week, hours dependent on centres
- Covering Kaeo, Kerikeri, Kawakawa & Ohaeawai Playcentres
- Permanent position during term time only plus 1 week during each school holiday

About you:
You’re organised, proactive, and thrive in a small team where everyone pitches in. You have strong attention to detail and enjoy helping others. Whether it’s responding to member queries, updating systems, or planning the next Council meeting. You’ll also:
- Bring a positive, can-do attitude and build effective relationships
- Be detail-focused, organised, and able to meet deadlines
- Understand ECE legislation, licensing requirements, and cooperative working environments
- Have experience in Playcentre or Early Childhood settings and be committed to Playcentre values and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Hold NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa
