Brooklyn

Tena koutou katoa, hello, and welcome

Brooklyn Playcentre is a vibrant, welcoming place. We provide licensed, quality learning for children aged from 0 to school-age. Our philosophy is based on mixed-age, child-initiated play, supported and extended by parents. Our maximum ratio is 1 adult per 4 children. We offer the Playcentre 16 areas of play, and much more besides.

You get to learn alongside your children through our fantastic, free adult education programme. Playcentre is a parent cooperative so as well as being educators, parents also manage the Centre. This offers the opportunity to use existing skills and learn new ones.

A common Playcentre refrain is, “I came for my children, and stayed for myself.”
Our Playcentre is located in the heart of Brooklyn, close to the Community Centre, Brooklyn School, Brooklyn Library, the shops and one minute’s walk from bus routes.

If you are looking for a place where you and your child/ren can make friends and become part of a caring and supportive community, then call us on 385-6531. We would be happy to arrange some free visits for you and your child/ren, so you can discover the magic of Playcentre.

At Playcentre, early childhood education is a shared journey. We value parents as the first and best educators for their tamariki, which is why parents attend alongside their tamariki – to play, learn and grow together.

Whether you have a new pēpī, preschooler, or are new to a community, Playcentre provides a place for whānau and communities to come together.

If you care for tamariki aged 0-6, we invite you to visit and experience our affordable, unique, and child-led environment. Our centres encourage learning through free play and nurture imagination, confidence, and connection.

Our licensed early learning centres follow the Ministry of Education’s world-leading bicultural curriculum, Te Whāriki, offering 16 different areas of play set up to cater for different interests, skills, ages and abilities.

We also provide a free, NZQA-approved, adult education programme for enrolled whānau to add practical strategies and skills to your parenting toolbox.

We offer three visits before you enrol. Arrange a visit today and experience our supportive, fun and friendly community for yourself!
