We are a small, rural playcentre catering to our wonderful local families. We are based just down the road from our local primary school and our playground backs onto local farmland. Our members travel from around the region and we welcome new visitors any time! Please bring a change of clothes (or several) as we like to get messy! Also bring a lunchbox/some kai for your tamariki so they can join us for morning tea (around 10am).
We start our days with mat time at 9.30am where we sing waiata, share news and talk about our exciting plans for the day. Then our tamariki wash hands ready for our morning tea. During this time our parents take turns at bringing along some tasty treats (just for the adults!) so you can relax for a moment and enjoy something delicious with a hot cup of your favourite beverage.
Not only do we share the learning adventure, but we all spread the load… raising a family can be challenging, so please think of us as your extended whānau. It takes a village, come along and see if our village is right for you!

PR officer @ Tomarata Playcentre
At Playcentre, early childhood education is a shared journey. We value parents as the first and best educators for their tamariki, which is why parents attend alongside their tamariki – to play, learn and grow together.
Whether you have a new pēpī, preschooler, or are new to a community, Playcentre provides a place for whānau and communities to come together.
If you care for tamariki aged 0-6, we invite you to visit and experience our affordable, unique, and child-led environment. Our centres encourage learning through free play and nurture imagination, confidence, and connection.
Our licensed early learning centres follow the Ministry of Education’s world-leading bicultural curriculum, Te Whāriki, offering 16 different areas of play set up to cater for different interests, skills, ages and abilities.
We also provide a free, NZQA-approved, adult education programme for enrolled whānau to add practical strategies and skills to your parenting toolbox.
We offer three visits before you enrol. Arrange a visit today and experience our supportive, fun and friendly community for yourself!
