On Monday 28th January, the Ministry of Education gazetted some additional qualifications that can be used to meet the Person Responsible requirement in a Playcentre.

This notice can be found here: https://gazette.govt.nz/notice/id/2019-go352

The combinations of qualifications that are required to be used for funding Playcentre sessions are still the same as what was sent out in the December 2018 Centre Chat.

The additional qualifications in the new gazette notice are ones that can be used to fill the “A gazetted Level 4 qualification” or”A gazetted Level 5 qualification” options.

The reason that these qualifications have been added to the gazette notice is to ensure that people with relevant qualifications, are able to contribute to Playcentre licensing options. Where someone already holds an early childhood qualification that is equal to or above the one Playcentre is offering they cannot enrol in our programme.

Anyone wanting to use one of these qualifications in Playcentre will need to send a copy of their certificate, their transcript (and a change of name document – such as marriage certificate- if the name on the qualification is different to their current name), to Glenda Caradus ([email protected]) or Gillian Croad ([email protected]). It is important that qualifications are confirmed in this way as there are a number of qualifications out there from different providers, with similar sounding names and only certain ones meet the necessary requirements.
