Year end 2019 – When will Audited Accounts be available?

I have been getting quite a few questions asking when the consolidated accounts will be available. Creating these accounts is a huge job and this year made even harder with all the work around the amalgamation of the Associations, this process cannot be started until all our centres have completed their finance pack (almost there – good work!) then it takes me about a month to compile all the accounts. These then need to be audited which can easily take in excess of 6 weeks. So please be patient with us, we are on it and working our fastest and expect these to be complete and audited by early January.

Most Grantors are aware that large charity accounts take up to 6 months to complete and audit and usually accept accounts up to 18 months old. However, if your centre is applying for a grant that specifically needs an updated report I am able to provide your centre with an individual set of Management accounts (called a spotlight report) which I can review and sign as Playcentres in-house Chartered Accountant.

Feel free to send me (Marina) an email on [email protected]

Changing names and making new codes in your centre chart of accounts

We often get asked if centres can change names or make new codes in their chart of accounts, yes you can however it can make our consolidation more difficult and time consuming. This year I have just mapped over 2000 different P&L codes and that takes quite some doing.

However, you can still change names but to help me out could you do me a favour and follow one simple rule to make my mapping at year end nice and easy.

Please use the generic term within the name so I can search and filter e.g. use the word, fundraiser, grant, wages, maintenance etc in the header preferably first.

e.g. “Fundraising – 2019 Bake sale” as opposed to “2019 Bake sale”

Then I don’t mind how many you add 🙂
