Play is at the heart of Inglewood Playcentre. In a world where play seems to be being pushed down the priority list for children we put it where it belongs – as the focus of everything we do! We believe that play is the highest form of learning and love that we can come along to Playcentre and have time dedicated for just this purpose.
We provide a welcoming, supportive and comfortable environment for children and parents or caregivers to come and have some time devoted to play. With a large outdoor play space and the 16 areas of play ready to go our tamariki can explore wherever their heart desires, no matter if they are a small baby or a young person there will be something for them at Inglewood Playcentre. Our tamariki develop a strong sense of belonging at our centre and certainly are empowered to follow their interests. We see our children developing their imagination, learn social and emotional skills as they create and develop reciprocal relationships with other members, testing theories, pushing boundaries and experiencing the world around them.
Because our learning journey is never over we encourage parents to take part in the excellent educational opportunities available through Playcentre! Parenting is THE most important job in the world and the one we get the least training for so we think it’s awesome to be able to upskill ourselves for free! Not to mention the huge amount that we learn from each other on session and through the long lasting friendships that blossom.
Our tamariki’s Playcentre journey is recorded in their own Portfolio, which includes stories about their learning, priceless pieces of their artwork, and photographs capturing moments to treasure.
At Playcentre, early childhood education is a shared journey. We value parents as the first and best educators for their tamariki, which is why parents attend alongside their tamariki – to play, learn and grow together.
Whether you have a new pēpī, preschooler, or are new to a community, Playcentre provides a place for whānau and communities to come together.
If you care for tamariki aged 0-6, we invite you to visit and experience our affordable, unique, and child-led environment. Our centres encourage learning through free play and nurture imagination, confidence, and connection.
Our licensed early learning centres follow the Ministry of Education’s world-leading bicultural curriculum, Te Whāriki, offering 16 different areas of play set up to cater for different interests, skills, ages and abilities.
We also provide a free, NZQA-approved, adult education programme for enrolled whānau to add practical strategies and skills to your parenting toolbox.
We offer three visits before you enrol. Arrange a visit today and experience our supportive, fun and friendly community for yourself!
