Welcome to Wilton Playcentre.
We are an early childhood education centre based on Gloucester Street in Wilton, Wellington near beautiful Otari Bush. We offer a friendly and supportive environment and welcome all families from surrounding areas.
We run a mixed aged session four mornings a week (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Friday) during school term. On session, we focus on child-led learning, this means we can tailor each session to children’s interests as well as parent confidence and enthusiasm.
We offer tamariki a variety of fun learning experiences each day such as painting, water play, outdoor play, musical play and construction play. Our premises were previously a church, which means that inside is spacious and outside there is a large play area.
Our Wilton Playcentre membership is currently made up of 14 families and 19 children. Children at our centre range in age from babies up to age 5. Families can attend for as many (or as few) sessions as they wish per week.
At Playcentre, families share responsibilities and decision making for running and managing the centre. We also employ a session facilitator (three sessions a week) who is currently a trained Early Childhood Education teacher.
We have mums and dads (and sometimes grandparents or aunties!) at all our sessions. Playcentre offers a great space for you and your child to play together, connect and foster friendships. There are so many ways to be at our centre and we welcome them all.
