Mauri ora ki a tātou e Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi, he mihi matakuikui ki a koutou.

Term One began with our pēpi, tamariki and whānau returning to play and learn at their Playcentre. Many new whānau have planned their first Centre visits at the beginning of the year, some of our older tamariki have first days at school and our Board met for its first meeting.

New Trustee Board

Te Whare Tikanga Māori trustees confirmed Heather Ruru, and Tangata Tiriti trustees confirmed Hayley Kirk-Smith as Manutaki Maurua (Co-Presidents) for their respective whare.  The Board has a full work plan for 2024.  We are ready to progress key mahi that will ensure the sustainability of Playcentre and in particular, the wellbeing of all our whānau, tamariki and their parents and caregivers.

Meet your Board

Toitū te Tiriti

Two precious taonga of Playcentre Aotearoa are our commitment to uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and our Two-House model; the embodiment of two cultures working in treaty partnership. On 6 February 2024, we marked 184 years since the signing of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.  This was a day of celebration and festivities around the motu and importantly, a day to reflect on our place in Aotearoa and as partners in Te Tiriti.

Representatives

A significant part of our Two-House model are the representatives of each whare, Te Whare Tikanga Māori and Tangata Tiriti. In the next few weeks, information will be shared about the representative endorsement process, how to endorse a representative and the role and responsibilities of a representative of your Rōpū or Region.  We warmly encourage you all to be involved in the endorsement process and if you are keen, to put yourself forward as a representative.

Kia pai ngā ra o Raumati, kia pārekareka ngā rā o te Wehenga Tuatahi.

Nā mātou noa nā,

Alice, Andrea, Bes, Fran, Hayley, Heather mātou ko Peta
