Pukeatua

The families at Pukeatua Playcentre are a super-friendly group from a range of cultures and nationalities, who are keen to provide a warm welcome to new families and whanau. Playcentre is a great place to have fun, meet people and seek support; while giving your children valuable opportunities to learn in a safe, child-led environment.

Playcentre provides free education programmes for parents, so we are well equipped to provide learning opportunities that nurture creativity, encourage belonging, wellbeing and exploration, and most importantly, learning through play. We cater for a wide range of ages from newborns to pre-schoolers. This gives our tamariki the opportunity to learn how to make friends, share, show empathy and care for each other.

For a small Playcentre, we are well resourced to meet our educational aims. We provide 16 areas of play, including a huge sandpit, climbing equipment, carpentry, playdough, collage and paint, as well as a range of other resources to suit the current interests of our tamariki.

As a rural Playcentre we have strong links to our community. We have close ties with Pukeatua Primary school, which helps when our children transition to school. For example, new-entrants team up with our tamariki at our Annual Easter Egg Hunt, where they have a short bush walk and scavenge for Easter eggs.

Call us if you have any questions or feel free to drop in to one of our sessions – bring morning tea and a change of clothes for your child/ren. We look forward to meeting you.

Ka kite ahau.

At Playcentre, early childhood education is a shared journey. We value parents as the first and best educators for their tamariki, which is why parents attend alongside their tamariki – to play, learn and grow together.

Whether you have a new pēpī, preschooler, or are new to a community, Playcentre provides a place for whānau and communities to come together.

If you care for tamariki aged 0-6, we invite you to visit and experience our affordable, unique, and child-led environment. Our centres encourage learning through free play and nurture imagination, confidence, and connection.

Our licensed early learning centres follow the Ministry of Education’s world-leading bicultural curriculum, Te Whāriki, offering 16 different areas of play set up to cater for different interests, skills, ages and abilities.

We also provide a free, NZQA-approved, adult education programme for enrolled whānau to add practical strategies and skills to your parenting toolbox.

We offer three visits before you enrol. Arrange a visit today and experience our supportive, fun and friendly community for yourself!
