Promoting Playcentre Education at your Centre
Thanks to those who attended our Playcentre Education Champions – Whakaihuwaka o Te Wāhanga Mātauranga sessions two weeks ago. For those who missed out, here are some top tips for promoting education at your centre:
The Playcentre Educator modules are designed to support ākonga as parents, as much as to increase their knowledge of the early years and support Playcentre. A great opportunity for our centre whānau to grow parenting skills in understanding and supporting play and building positive relationships with tamariki.
As a free programme, there’s no harm done if people sign up, give it a go, and then find it’s not right for them. We know centre whānau are juggling a lot!
Make Playcentre Education visible in your centre by…
- Making sure your fabulous new education posters are up on display!
- Dotting the Area of Play books around the relevant play areas at Playcentre – that way when your centre whānau are “up to the reading” it is nice and easy for them to dip in as they play with their tamariki.
- Sharing snippets of key learning from workshops at your centre meetings, social media or other forums you use to connect with centre whānau.
- Hosting a Learning through Play workshop at your centre!
- Acknowledging education achievement at your centre and encouraging centre whānau to share in our upcoming celebrations of adult learning.
Check the Playcentre Education Reading List to make sure your centre library is up to date with all the latest requirements. If centre finances are a real issue, contact Mary Alford who may be able to send some options on loan.
Encourage ākonga to attend one of our online support sessions, if they are stuck and need a nudge in the right direction – or host your own “all sorts” evening!
Monday 7.30-8:30pm / Thursday 1.30-2.30pm
Remember that a resubmit is not a fail, it’s an opportunity to provide just a little more information 😊
For any learners who may have additional learning support needs, contact our fabulous learner support advocate Mary Alford.
