Grandparents Day Resources
At Playcentre grandparents are a valued part of our village. It is a privilege for grandparents and mokopuna (grandchildren) to spend time together, and the benefits for both are huge. Some grandparents may be primary carers, and others may just want to spend more quality time with their mokopuna!
New Zealand Grandparents Day is celebrated on the first Sunday in October each year. This year that’s Sunday 5 October 2025. Term 4 begins Monday 6 October so you may wish to hold whānau days that first week back or provide special activities to recognise and celebrate grandparents.
We encourage you to invite local grandparents to visit by posting in community groups, sharing flyers, and asking your centre whānau to spread the word!
We have created a range of Grandparents Day Resources to help your centre celebrate Grandparents Day.
Check out our Grandparents Day Event page which you can link to when promoting Grandparents Day on your own centre social media pages.
Outdoor Play Week, 3-7 November 2025
Keep an eye out for social media resources for Playcentre Outdoor Play Week (3-7 November 2025). We are working on these and will have them ready for centres very soon.
Playcentre Open Week – Campaign Results
Thank you to all centre whānau and staff who contributed to the success of our national Playcentre Open Week advertising campaign by promoting your centre locally and helping to welcome new whānau who arranged to visit centres during the week.
While this advertising campaign specifically promoted Playcentre Open Week (18-22 August), it also increased overall awareness of the Playcentre brand, and the benefits of Playcentre as a great early childhood education choice.
Our increased investment in advertising, particularly in digital billboards in shopping centres, our radio ads and nzherald.co.nz digital advertising were designed to increase overall awareness of the Playcentre brand with both parents and grandparents across Aotearoa.
Our more targeted digital advertising resulted in a significant number of click-throughs to our website, particularly our paid social media advertising (15,466 clicks) and Google ads (6,100 clicks). This increase in click-throughs to our website has translated to 39,000 new users to our website in August 2025, with an increase in conversions, specifically 1,800 people clicking to arrange a visit and 723 people clicking the request to enrol button on the centre pages of our website. Please note, this does not include the 7,637 people that clicked on “Find your centre” and either phoned or emailed their local Playcentre from this page, rather than an individual centre page on the website.
We hope that Playcentre Open Week translates into lots of new enrolments to help your centre grow and thrive. Ngā mihi nui from the Marketing Team.
