Enrolment Form Update

The Ministry of Education have recently updated their privacy statement for Enrolment Agreements. As part of the Privacy review (see Privacy Policy update in this Bulletin) we have been undertaking this year, all our forms are being updated and there will be more information about these early next year. New enrolments completed through our website include the updated Ministry of Education information.

Childcare Assistance changes

The Government has announced changes to Childcare Subsidy and OSCAR Subsidy from 1 April 2023.

The income thresholds for Childcare Subsidy and OSCAR Subsidy are increasing. This means more people will be able to get these payments.

An estimate of the new income thresholds from 1 April 2023 can be found on the Work and Income website.

Please note:

  • the income threshold amounts will be confirmed once the average wage data is available.
  • the Subsidy hourly rate will also change from 1 April 2023 with the Annual General Adjustment.

Getting Childcare or OSCAR Subsidy on 1 April 2023

If a family already gets Childcare or OSCAR Subsidy on 1 April 2023, their payment amount may increase. The change will happen automatically, and the payment will be updated with the childcare provider.

If a family qualify for Subsidy from 1 April 2023 based on their income, they can apply from 1 April 2023. They will also need to meet the rest of the criteria for the Childcare Subsidy and OSCAR subsidy.

How much Childcare Assistance will families in your service be eligible for?

It is difficult for services to accurately calculate how the Childcare Subsidy changes will affect individual families. This is because:

  • the exact income thresholds and Subsidy rates won’t be known until early 2023 (as they are based on wage growth and the consumer price index), and
  • there are several variables that affect eligibility and the level of assistance.

More information about the Childcare Assistance changes will be communicated to you in the new year.
