Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi o Aotearoa – Playcentre Aotearoa, is a well known and loved Early Childhood organisation with over 80 years of supporting parents to take the lead in their children’s learning through play. Playcentre operates 400 Playcentres throughout the country.

Springvale Playcentre is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Session Facilitator to join our well-resourced and vibrant Playcentre Community for one session per week. You will work alongside our members and tamariki to guide session activities, facilitate learning using child led play and positive guidance. You will be a hands-on team member who encourages others to thrive; you will model Playcentre philosophy and good practice while supporting whānau to gain confidence to have a go themselves.

Days & hours:

This role offers two flexible morning sessions 8:30am – 1:15pm (including 30min unpaid break) and 8:30am – 12:30pm, total of 8.25 hours per week. This is a permanent position, during school term time only.

The candidate must have:

  • The Playcentre C3 qualification or the New Zealand Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care L4 or a higher ECE qualification or a Primary Teaching qualification with the Playcentre Primary Teacher Bridging Award, for licencing purposes.
  • A current First Aid Certificate or be prepared to complete this.

Desirable skills and experience will include:

  • A passion for Playcentre and our philosophy;
  • Knowledge and understanding of how to apply Te Whariki and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi;
  • Great time management and with strong interpersonal and communication skills, and experience at centre level communicating with both tamariki and adults;
  • An ability to support and empower parents, whanau, and caregivers in their role as Kaiako.
  • A willingness to upskill and meet new Playcentre qualification requirements as required;
  • Confidence when speaking within a group.
  • A passion for supporting Te Reo Māori and tikanga and engaging all whānau to feel a sense of belonging on our session.
